hallowe'en joy

.
i just had the coolest thing happen.

a friend of mine dropped something off at my house and informed me it was from a secret admirer.

i know this is true because inside it had a cut out card with 'from a secret admirer' written on it in cut up magazine pages. i'm pretty sure i know who it is. there were feminine things and my brand of toothpaste in it.

but check this okay? it's this great orange bag with a jack o'lantern on it and it's full of all these awesome things. my brand of toothpaste, a girly razor and four refills (i'm using a dead razor at the moment), eye makeup remover and pads, emery boards, my brand of tampons, a bag of tortellini pre-made dinner thingy, a toothbrush, and the very best thing ever...

yeah i said ever.

a

wait for it.

purple

wait for it

feather BOA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I *KNOW*

how awesome is that? it has matching false eyelashes and lipstick even. (i'm totally wearing the whole shebang to work on tuesday!)

now the reason i'm pretty sure that i know who it is? there was a lighter in there too. and she nailed all my brands, so i'm thinking it's my sister. the person who handed it to me swears that it's from someone other than them you see... so she's off the hook, but lividviv now...

and i don't even care is the best part, if it isn't her? then someone who knows me really well made me a hallowe'en care package and i'm just thrilled.

god it's so awesome!

that's all, i'm going to bed.

===

p.s. does anyone know how to put up false eyelashes? tips and tricks appreciated...

that's an EXCELLENT surprise.

do you have a MAC store in your area? have them teach you how to put on the false lashes. it's hard to explain in writing... but i'll try:

first, you need to trim them so they're the right size for your eye. the base strip should start where your lashes naturally do, and end where yours do.

then you need to get a toothpick and put a thin coat of the glue along the base strip, let it get "tacky" (give it 30 seconds to a minute) and then place them on your eye, and aim to get that base strip as close to your lash line as possible. use another toothpick to help you get them into place and to secure them.

the cool thing is that if you get it wrong, you can just peel them off and start over.

good luck...

Hey that was pretty well explained, another plus go to a makeup counter like MAC and ask for a sample of the glue alot of times they won't charge you and they will give you just enough to work with :) Try not to blink. I use tweezers but I am sure a toothpick works well too. Try it on before putting the glue on to test your stedy hand and technique :D Good luck!

Little gift baskets are the best!!!

Love it!

I love surprises...they can totally make your day/week/month :)

I love care packages especially. I used to get them when my family and I lived in different cities and even different countries :)

All out of info on how to put on false eyelashes. I can help you with false confidence, falsies, and even a falsetto if you need it though.

That is so cool. I don't think I've ever gotten anything unexpected like that before, from anyone...and I've never had a secret admirer, not even sure if I've ever had a known admirer. :)

Aww, that's so awesome! Little care packages are so much fun to get and give... but a secret admirer? How fun! A secret admirer fanciful enough to give you a purple feather boa?? That takes the cake.

Have fun with it all! Sorry I can't help with the false lashes thing.

I confess. It wasn't me. I'm an overt admirer, not a secretive one. Go Lividviv.

false eyelashes in four easy steps:

1. make sure that you know which one goes on which eye. the longer ones go on the outer edge. after you figure that out, place them on your eye sans glue, and cut them as needed so they don't extend much past your lash line. cut from the inside, don't cut off the ends.

2. put a thin strip of glue on the faux lash line, let it dry a bit...then place it as close as humanly possible to your lash line. if you don't let the glue dry enough, it will get in your eye and the lashes won't stick

3. once you have them positioned well, and on, take a small eyemake up brush and use the bottom of it to push the eyelashes down and to add glue where they aren't sticking as well.

4. put a coat of clear mascara on to ensure that the lashes and your lashes blend.

so simple. even my mom can do it...well, no. even i can do it for my mom.

sephora sells application packages. you can get the glue at any drug store known to man, pretty much..and it's all the same glue. mac'll just charge you a lot more for it.

leigh: yeah it really is awesome isn't it?

i am... hope you are too!

elle: man between you and terry i have all the tricks now. these ones are long in the middle and short on both sides... does that mean i trim one end off?

and the glue was included it turns out....

thank you so much for this, your extra tips will really make this work!
